WRITING

Handwriting is taught to an agreed formula to ensure continuity of progress.  The school uses a cursive style from KS1, depending on individual pupil’s readiness.

Pupils have frequent opportunity to develop skills in writing in different contexts and for a variety of purposes.  Teachers help children to express their thoughts through writing and to produce clear and accurate written work.  The use of style, form, vocabulary, punctuation and spelling are often developed through discussion of the pupil’s own written work.

Grammar is a key focus in school and children are taught following school policy. We use the ‘grammar hammer’ programme to develop this.
