School Council Key Driver Groups

Hello, we are the School Council Key Driver Team, which involves all children in Year 6. We work together with the teachers and governors to ensure our key drivers are embedded throughout our curriculum, helping to move the school forward into the future.

There are 9 teams: EMOTIONAL RESILIENCE, PARENT PARTNERSHIP, GLOBAL, REFLECTIVE LEARNERS, PEDAGOGY, RSE & PSHE, SPEECH LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION, CREATIVITY AND SKILLS.

We regularly send out surveys on each area of school life to parents and children, and gather information to make our school curriculum even better.

We regularly update and present information to the school in assemblies.

We meet in small teams with teachers, and come together as a whole once a term. Our School Improvement Partner came to join us for one of our meetings: she was so impressed by our work that she will be using our ideas at conference in the Summer Term.

PROJECTS INCLUDE:

Creating events for parents to be more involved in school life - Columbafest October 2022

Working with teachers and subject leaders to share our thoughts on pedagogy in lessons, to develop learning

Chinese New Year lessons

Enterprise projects: selling bags for life plus Year 6 market day

Raising money for Africa - ongoing each term

Supporting the community spiritually - Advent and Easter teaching in church plus several out-reach programmes involving Caritas

What makes a good lesson? Questionnaires to pupils that are fed back to staff

Safer Schools Project

STEM involvement with Cumbria STEM and local major companies through the STEM Ambassador programme

Global outreach through our Laudato Si group
